| THE
BEGINNING
On April 23, 1964 six
enterprising men and women form the municipalities of Antipolo
and Cainta, Rizal, led by a young contractor and real estate
developer, Felix B. Marinas, organized and established the
Rural Bank of Cainta, Inc. The other incorporators were
Victor Alcantara, Jose Hernandez, Alfredo Ignacio, Amparo
Cruz, and Alda Valenzuela.
The Banker's
present building, located at the corner A. Bonifacio Avenue
and Marick Road, opened its doors to the residents, farmers,
small manufacturers and businessmen in Cainta on November 16,
1964. It was the very first banking, institution that
opened in Cainta which was then mainly an agricultural
community. Now, Cainta has grown into a progressive
industrial and commercial center in Eastern Rizal.
The Bank
started with an authorized capital of P150,000. It has
since grown very substantially. By 1994, the
stockholders voted to increase its authorized capitalization
to P20 M. By the end of its 32nd year in December, 1995,
the total resources stood at 191.4 M with total deposit
liabilities of 165 M.
For most of
the 60's and the 70's the Rural Bank of Cainta was the sole
bank operating in Cainta with its full line of services:
deposits and loans. It was one of the first few rural
banks granted authority to offer demand deposit services.
With the
liberalization of branching for rural banks, branches were
established in the towns of Taytay, Antipolo, Teresa, Cogeo,
and Binangonan. Now, in this early 200's the founder Mr.
Marinas envisions a rural bank with an expanded banking
operation, one that is more dynamic and attuned to the needs
of the banking times and clientele.
